Chapter 167

It felt like an eternity but eventually the airplane touched down at Pharos airport. Ciara was a bundle of nerves and as Jon reached out to touch the small of her back as they reached the flight of stairs, she jumped.

His stormy eyes fixed on her.

“Baby you need to calm down. I know this is hard but you aint doing yourself any good working yourself up like this.”

Her feline eyes met his.

“I’m so scared Jon. I don’t know how I’m going to go through with this.” She licked her lips.

Cupping the back of her shiny curls he pulled her into a tight embrace.

“This will be over soon, I wont let anything happen to you.”

She nodded but kept her face buried in the warmth of his chest, inhaling his familiar scent.

From their left someone cleared their throat and as she lifted her face she stared into the soulless crimson eyes of a vampire. Jon felt her hand fisted in his shirt as her body coiled tightly.

“Kaló̱s í̱lthate sti̱n Elláda. Please forgive me….welcome to Paros. I’ll be taken you to the master’s residence. This way please…” he gestured for the luggage to be taken to a small airplane opposite the airport.

With each step closer to the plane, Ciara felt her throat closed more and more.

“Breathe baby…deep and slow….there ya go.” His ever present hand stroked gently on her back.

The airplane touched down what seemed like mere minutes and by then Ciara was hyperventilating. Her eyes almost swallowed her waxen complexion , while her bottom lip was caught firmly between her teeth.

“This way.” The vampire gestured towards a black, sleek car.

“We call our little Island Antiparos. We are a close community, very close knit.” The crimson eyes flashed in the rear view mirror, and Ciara turned her head as if to study her surroundings. The flashing smile of the vampire told her he wasn’t fooled. Her fear and distress was tangible with every breath she took, wafting off her skin like waves.

A humungous mansion loomed before her and for a moment her fear slipped from her mind.

“Its beautiful!”

A multistory with perfect, whitewash walls was edged against the clear blue Greek sky. Palms swayed in the afternoon breeze and as they drove into the grounds the pure luxury of the place hit home. Green lawns rolled endlessly and seemed to disappear into the deep blue of the ocean surrounding the island. The sweet aroma of flowers mingled with the saltiness of the sea, and as Ciara took a deep breath she felt some of her anxiety drift away.

She opened her eyes only to find shimmering blue pools staring at her, a slight smile tugging at his lips.

“That’s my girl.” A calloused thumb brushed across her lower lip.

The car slowed and came to a standstill. The magic moment was broken and Ciara’s cat eyes shifted towards the building as if Satan himself was awaiting their arrival.

A tiny tuck on her chin turned her gaze.

“Hey….its gonna be a’right.”, His voice whispered.

Her wobbly smile didn’t seem to sure.

The next moment the door opened.

“After you baby.” He nodded towards the sunlight.

Climbing the small flight of stairs, she watched nervously as the heavy door swung silently on its hinges.

A bright eyed, smiling servant stood in the doorway, not the dark, ominous lord she expected.

“Welcome to Greece.”

She ushered them in, babbling non-stop in a heavily Greek accent.

“The lord and lady of the house apologized for not being here to meet you but they had another meeting. They insisted that you make yourselves at home and get some rest. They will meet you at dinner tonight.”

Ciara’s relieved sigh was deafening in the foyer. They were swiftly led up a swirling flight of stairs to their room.

“I’ll leave you to get some much needed rest. I will send a servant up with some refreshments.”

Ciara turned towards Jon.

“Is she…?”

“yeah…human.” He laughed.

“Wow she can talk!” Ciara giggled shaking her head to rid it of the tingle of the woman’s voice.

“The Greek’s are well known for their hospitality, we better get used to it huh?”

“I guess.” She jumped as a light rap echoed through the room. “What now? You answer it!” She bounced from the door towards the patio, Jon’s laughter following her.

Ciara was met with the most breathtaking view. The endless blue of the ocean stretched before her, the sound of crushing waves welcomed her and she too her second deep breath of salty air.

The clink of ice cubes turned her head and she smiled faintly as she accepted the tall glass of whatever.

“Hmmmmmm sweet…what is it?”

Shrugging his shoulders his blue eyes flashed playfully.

“Dunno but who cares. Its nice and it has an alcoholic percentage…good enough for me.”

With each sip, Ciara’s eyelids drew heavier. By the time she put the glass down on the table she was fighting to keep her eyes open.

“Lie down for a while baby. It was a long trip, I’ll wake you when its time to get ready.”

Stifling a yawn, she slipped her shoes off, reaching the edge of the bed she tipped forward, letting herself fall into the welcome softness.

“Hhhmmmmmmmmmmmm.”

  1. thanks for the new chapter! I wonder if that drink had a sedative in it - and if Jon will be affected also. I would be careful of these other vampires if I was him!
