Chapter 166

Ciara swept her wet hair over one shoulder, drying herself vigorously she shivered as goosebumps broke out all over her skin. The sun was sinking fast now and brought with it a frisky evening breeze. Trudging her way towards the house she thought about her plans for the evening.

Slipping inside she headed towards the shower, turning on the taps, she stepped in.

An half an hour later she was heading towards the kitchen, the dinner for the evening firmly in her mind, when she felt a sudden prick in the back of her neck.

Brushing it off, she turned towards the freezer to retrieve the steaks. Glimpsing at the clock against the wall, she knew Jon would be back anytime now and she busied herself with the preparation of the salad.

Deciding to wait for Jon before grilling the steaks, she filled a glass of wine, opened the front door and walked out on the porch. It was a cloudless night, the stars winked in the inky sky, assuring Ciara she wasn’t alone.

A movement caught her eye and Ciara stopped breathing, the glass fell from her nerveless fingers only to be caught by an amber eyed vampire.

Her scream was lodged in her throat as she stumbled from the familiar face.

His eyes were burning into her, seemingly assessing her well being. As he leaned closer to sniff appreciatively her scream dislodged.

A sudden flash blurred before her and she was thrown backwards, her body hitting the wall hard.

The snarling and shuffling turned her head and she froze as the two vampires went full force at each other’s throats.

“No!”

They both turned towards her in an instant, violence edged their faces into cruel masks and she grabbed at her throat, trying to force the lump down threatening to choke her.

As her legs gave way she was caught in Jon’s sweeping arms.

Just as quickly as the violence started it was over.

“I apologize if I’ve alarmed you in any way.” The vampire bowed his head apologetically. “ And to you, sir, for my inappropriate behavior towards your mate.” The vampire swallowed hard, his eyes brushing over her once more.

Ciara nodded, staring big eyed as the vampire walking closer. Jon grunted in acceptance of his apology but it didn’t ease the murderous glare in his eyes.

“My master has requested that I deliver this note to you. The time has come…”

Slipping from Jon’s crushing grip, she watched as Jon accepted the envelope.

The vampire nodded, stepping away, he shot soundlessly into the night air.

“Lets go inside baby.”

Closing the door behind him he stared at the envelope in his hand.

“Was it this all about?”

His eyes locked onto her and she felt the cold clench on her heart.

“I wished I could have spared you this Ciara…as God is my witness I wish I could.”

Ciara’s knees felt like rubber again.

“Jon! You are scaring me, what is it?”

Tearing at the envelope he stared at the piece of paper which seemed like and eternity.

“The trial…the trial is in a week’s time.”

“The trial….oh no! Please don’t tell me we have to be there, JON?!”

He stepped closer towards the hysterical woman.

“I can’t do this! I can’t see him!....Oh my God!”

“We have to put this behind us Angel.”

“I’m not strong enough for this Jon…I’m not…please don’t make me do this?” Tears were rushing down her cheeks.

As Jon cradled her in his arms, he knew exactly where her fears came from, she wasn’t strong enough…not strong enough to deny her feelings for the other vampire.

He clutched at the head buried in his chest and only eased up when he heard her pitiful struggle for air.

~~

He was staring at a scared, unsure little girl a few days later, her suitcase clutched in her hand as if her life depended on it.

When the car drove up to take them to the airport, she had cringed from his touch, her eyes pleading for his understanding.

“Everything is going to be ok.” A strong hand settled onto the small of her back.

The trip to Greece was and emotional rollercoaster ride. Ciara stared out of the window in silence for hours on end. She only spoke when she was spoken to.

As Jon’s hand squeezed her burning hand, she suddenly jumped.

“It’s gonna be alright baby.”

When she didn’t answer, he tipped her chin.

“Do you trust me?”

She stared in silence at the gorgeous blue eyes shimmering with love.

“I trust you…its me I don’t trust.”

She didn’t miss the flash of shock darkening his eyes. She pushed passed his legs and rushed out as if all the hounds of hell were on her heels.

Chapter 165

Ciara struggled with the pulsing uneasiness clutching her chest. She had been dreaming of Xander these last couple of nights and although she was sure Jon knew, he never mentioned anything.

He was her pillar of strength, holding her in his strong arms, waiting for the fear and despair to end she knew she could always lean on him, trusting that he will be there, waiting…soothing the horror from her mind.

Somehow the dreams were becoming more vivid and regular. There were days that she was so caught up in the pain and sorrow she felt in her dreams that she couldn’t escape from the emotional roller coaster ride.

Jon watched in silence, easing into her troubled mind he struggled with the burden everyday as he knew the ultimate truth. It weren’t dreams but the blood connection to the vampire. She felt his suffering, his longing…his pain.

Her body he could satisfy but her mind was unreachable and it disturbed him more that he could deal with and what disturbed him the most was that she never confided in him.

He balanced himself on an elbow, watching her as her expressions changed in the flood of the moonlight. Her dream playing in his mind’s eye, her compassion for the captured vampire brought a snarl to his lips but still he refused to retreat from her mind, knowing damn well that it might be the best for his sanity.

Ciara fought her way through the oppressive darkness. Fear made her drag the lead in her legs. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she didn’t know where she was…yet she had to move forward, had to go …the gravely silence seemed to be screaming from everywhere. Where was she, why was she here?

“Ciara…Agapi mou…I need you.” The voice drifted towards her and suddenly she knew…he needed her, Xander needed her!

“Xander! “

“I’m weak ….I need blood…will you please help me?”

Ciara struggled to breath, fighting her way through the darkness she felt panic settle in as she ran as fast as she could to reach him.

“Hold on Xander I’m almost there…please hang on!”

She burst into a cold chamber. Xander was before her shackled at his feet and hands, he was on his knees, his naked body as pale as death.

Lifeless, crimson orbs shimmered from a ghostl y face.

“You came…I knew you would.” His head dropped tiredly onto his chest.

Ciara rushed forward, falling onto her knees, she cupped his face in her hands.

“Drink…you have to drink from me or you’ll die.”

Ciara inched closer, feeling the cold lips pressing against her skin, she shivered, the scrape of his fangs where right there, seeking the perfect entry spot.

Her cry rang in her ears as he bit through her skin, but she grabbed hold of the dark head nonetheless, guiding him, soothing him.

“Ciara….”

Suddenly an unseen force dragged her from the vampire’s embrace.

“No! Please I have to help him!”

“Come back to me…baby…come back to me…”

A welcoming warmth brushed her back and she turned….Jon was waiting at the end of the long hallway. Love was shining in his eyes, a reassuring smile tucked as his lips…his arms opened invitingly and Ciara ran.

“I’m sorry….I’m sorry but he needed my help.” She was snuggled in his arms, her tears soaked into his shirt, her hands locked in the material of his shirt. “Please forgive me…I don’t want to betray you…I’m sorry.”

Gentle hands stroked the mahogany curls down her back.

“No need to be sorry baby…no need.”

A finger touched her chin and tipped it upwards.

Ciara woke with a start, cradled gently in his arms, his lips were on hers, her salty tears mingled with his taste and she gasped, guilty eyes lifted towards glittering orbs.

“Its all over honey…you are a’right.”

“It was a bad dream…just a bad dream.”

Sinking into his strength, she let herself be rocked like a frightened child.

Staring into the darkness he gritted his teeth…”Yeah.”

The horror of moments before swirled into a pounding need for acceptance and Ciara’s cramped hands eased, her palms touching the familiar planes of his chest.

Jon sensed the change as soon as her muskiness wafted into his nostrils.

“Please make love to me?” Her voice vibrated over his collarbone and he stilled, his body jerking to instantaneous attention.

Ciara moved backwards, slipping the nightgown over her head, she only lost eye contact for a mere moment.

The moment was more than enough to lit the fire in his irises and sliced his fangs down his lips in full display.

Ciara sagged onto the mattress, holding out her arms, she shifted her thighs slightly, opening them invitingly for his hungry stare.

She was glistening for him already, her tight little nipples, puckered perfectly against creamy skin.

“C’mere.”

His weight pushed down on her, cupping her calves he made sure she accommodated him fully between her thighs.

“You sure you wanna do this baby?”

“Very sure…” she lifted her head and flicked her tongue over his bottom lip. Caging his head with her hands, she pulled him down, gently touching her quivering lips with his.

Tonight she would set the pace…slow and easy…

A wet pink tongue swirled around each fang, her favorite pass time these days, only to spear into the wet cavern of his mouth.

Her hands freed his head, brushing slowly, she traced the strong frame of his muscles, down his bunching biceps, up and over the corded muscles in his back.

Jon’s hand followed the feminine curves of her body, touching here, stroking there, he soon had her purring in his ear and writhing hungrily beneath him.

Ciara’s hand dipped in between them, grabbing hold of his thick member, she stroked it firmly. A growl rumbled from the chest pressing her into the bed, their kiss caught fire, their cores following suit.

Ciara arched beneath him…guiding him towards her she met his gaze.

“I need you inside me…”

Ciara’s breath caught in her throat, slowly but surely he inched his way inside her warmth. When he was finally fully sheathed inside her, he stilled.

“You set the pace tonight Sweetheart…I’m all yours.” Turning slowly, he settled on his back, keeping them intimately coupled they switched positions.

Ciara’s flushed face stared down at him, her muscles gripped him tightly as he pushed even deeper.

Her hips rotated slowly at first, flicking carefully she quickly found her rhythm, her thighs keeping her stable, his hands guiding her gently.

Pleasure shot through her core with every deep stroke, anticipation was building into a crescendo, her senses were suffused with sizzling sparks shooting though her veins, threatening to consume her insides.

The surge slammed into her unexpectedly, flinging her into a burst of fuzzy clouds.

His groan told her he was right there with her, following her willingly to their mind blowing zenith.

Ciara sagged onto the heaving bunch of muscles beneath her, leaving soft pecks on his chest, she felt her heartbeat slowing.

She was drifting again…maybe she could close her eyes just for a few moments….just a few…
