Chapter 109

Blazing eyes shone from an infuriated face.

Jon stared at the hot faced couple in the middle of the sitting room.

“Calm down bro’ nothing sinister going on here, just talking.”

“It seemed more than talking to me.” Murder was written all over his face.

Ciara’s face darkened, her eyes flashing in anger.

“Trust you to always think the worst of your best friend.”

“I trust my friend, you, I’m not so sure...”

“Now Jon...”

“Its ok Richie. He can’t help it. He was born an ass.”

She could understand if he was in a bad mood because of the divorce, but hell!

Jon’s hands balled at his sides as her words struck home.

“I was about to order, you wanna join us?”

Richie ignored Ciara’s frown.

“I’m not good company tonight Rich.”

“Well you can’t sit and willow in your own misery. So join us for a meal, it will help pass the time.”

Jon’s looked over at Ciara, taking in her swollen eyes and pouty lips.

His emotions were unpredictable tonight. Dorothea’s visit and the divorce papers almost send him over the edge. Seeing Ciara in another man’s arms and noticing her tear swollen face was just too much to handle for him right now. He ached for her so badly he was afraid he might hurt her. His eyes drifted from her towards Richie.

“I think I better go.”

Richie nodded as if he knew the reason and when she looked back to Jon, he was gone.

~~

It was a few minutes past ten when she eventually left for her room. Her scent drifted towards him in the sultry night air. Instead of turning towards her room, she made her way towards the garden of the hotel, her soft footsteps hushed by the lush carpet.

He had been waiting for her the whole night. Watching...waiting...

As she entered the night air she threw her head backwards, taking a deep breath, he stared as the motion pushed her breasts even higher.

She kept her face turned towards the night sky, her face lit by the shimmer of the moon.

How gorgeous she was at that moment! A nymph drenched by the moonlight, her tresses shimmering like silver.

He took a step closer and she froze, her head whipping towards him.

“Is somebody there?”

Her heart was tripping to a new beat and Jon felt the excitement zinged through him.

Jon tried to clear his mind but all he saw was a woman...his woman ready for the taking. Her thundering heart tumbled through his razor sharp senses and he shivered in anticipation.

Would she welcome him back or fear him like before?

“Hello Ciara.”

Ciara froze. She was sure she felt her heart drop to her feet.

The hoarse whisper of her name brought back fearful memories.

She stood frozen, her eyes searched frantically through the shadows.

He took one step closer and shuddered as her gasp speared through him.

Oh my God! He was back. He had found her!

She stared at the blue coals shimmering from the shadows.

“If you come closer, I swear I’ll scream.”

“Tsk tsk. Do you really think I will give you the chance?”

She flicked a quick look towards the path she had just come from. She could make it, she was sure, if she could just...

“Thinking of running somewhere?” His breath was brushing her temple.

Ciara squeezed her eyes shut, refusing to breath.

“Why are you following me?”

“I like your taste, its intoxicating. “

His lips nuzzled at her jaw, she squeaked as his fangs grazed lazily over her earlobe.

“I can never get enough of you...your taste...aaahhh...like heaven.” She shuddered at his appreciative growl as he drew blood on a tiny spot on her ear. His tongue swirled over the tiny cut, lapping hungrily.

His hands drew her against him, pulling her into the dark haven of the shadows where he came from.

“HHhmmmm...you taste like sweet, sweet honey.” Jon’s hands stroked the goosebumps popping all over her arms. His mouth had migrated south, stroking the column of her neck with his tongue, he growled as he pushed against the pulsing vein. He could so easily take her now, just one quick slice...

“Please...whatever you do, just don’t hurt me. You can feed from me, just don’t hurt me. Her voice trembled with fear.

I have so much to live for...my friends...Jon...

Jon stilled at thoughts. She wanted him? Jon, the man? If she just knew that the beast lusting after her blood was him!

He shoved her viciously. Shame, regret and an uncontrollable hunger tore at his heart and guts.

A sorrowful howl slipped from his soul as he cringed from her. His body and mind was screaming for her blood, his heart accusing him for even contemplating the repulsive act.

Ciara gasped as she felt the whoosh of cold air swish around her. She knew he was gone even before she opened her eyes. She felt....lonely.

Gathering her nerves she stumbled hastily towards the hotel. She needed light and bodies...lots and lots of breathing bodies...

Jon found himself stalking the dark, lonely streets moments later. His hunger had chased him to the unfriendly corners and alleyways of this strange town. He had to feed tonight and though Ciara’s thoughts had caught him off guard he couldn’t deny the hungry pounding in his body. The light steps of a woman jerked him back to the present and Jon cocked his head, pinpointing the exact spot where his meal was finding herself at that moment. His descent was quick and his feeding harsh and to the point. When she eventually staggered to her feet Jon had disappeared into the night, the hunger in his stomach sated, not the ache in his groin.

~~

It seemed like minutes later when the bar in the hotel started to run low on people and when she flicked a quick look over her wristwatch she was surprised to see that it was past twelve. Ciara reluctantly stood up from the chair where she had thoughtlessly sipped on unknown quantities of glasses of wine.

As soon as she turned she grabbed at the back of the chair as a wave of dizziness swept through her. Closing her eyes for a moment she waited for the earth to stop moving and as she made her way towards the room she wrote her unexplained feelings of anguish down to too much wine and the unexpected visit from her vampire.

Where she had feelings of dread to go to her room alone at first she now felt driven to reach it.

Ciara swiped the card the third time and cursed herself for drinking way to much wine.

“Open dammit..o...”

“Ciara?”

Ciara swooped around, her breath stuck in her throat.

Could it be?

Her pent up breath left her chest in a hiss.

“Jon...shit!!”

“I’m sorry. Did I scare you?”

The strong smell of wine wafted in his nostrils and he focused more intently on her. She was drunk! Her cheeks had a darker shade of pink than he was used to and she seemed a bit clumsier. He knelt down to pick up the card as it fluttered to the ground. Flicking it playfully through his fingers he smiled as she stared wide eyed at him.

“What are you doing here?”

He looks so scrumptious.

“I couldn’t sleep.”

I could kiss her right now. Would she let me?

As if she read his thoughts her eyes dropped to his slightly open lips.

“Can I come in?”

YES!!!!!

“It’s late Jon.”

She was swiftly trapped between him and the door. His hand was on the doorknob.

No wasn’t the answer he was seeking. A quick flick of the card and a twist of the knob and the door gave way. Ciara stumbled backwards but was saved when a strong hand jerked her close to its owner’s body, bringing her flush with the lips she craved many a night.

“Say yes Ciara, just for a little while.”

She nodded.
