Chapter 51

“Hey! That’s not funny! Poor asshole! If that happens your life is over, I tell ya! They can just shoot me and get it over with!”

“Jon! It’s not that! I was laughing at your stupid expression! My crying has nothing to do with Richie getting it up or not! His…the…it work’s just fine.” Her blush reminded him just how innocent she really was.

“Ok so you gonna tell me before you grow old?”

“You’re not going to let this go are you?”

“Nope.” He settled his outstretched legs on the table, his baby blue eyes trained on her face.

“Its all my fault Jon. Richie had a nightmare and I tried to comfort him. It turned into something else and…well…I couldn’t go through with it.” She was watching her restless hands now, a blush riding high on her cheeks.

“You cant make love since what happened, right?” his voice was soft, understanding.

She nodded, not ready to meet his gaze just yet. She felt him moving closer and stiffened. Lifting her chin with his index finger, she had no choice but to meet his gaze.

“You need to tell Rich. I know what happened to you is fucking horrible and maybe its embarrassing to talk about it. But you not discussing it and getting it off your mind just makes it worse between you two and at the end of the day you give the fucker that raped you, a winning hand over you. He tried to ruin your life and you are letting him, without even trying. Rich will understand, he will never think strange or badly of you. NEVER. I know him. Look at me honey, I’m a fucking vampire! He didn’t even turn his back on me. If there is one man you can rely on, it’s Richie. He’ll have your back no matter how fucked up life gets. Luckily for you, you have two guys backing you up and I’m going to live forever. So just imagine that!” his handsome smile broke through.

Shoving the pillows to all directions, she slipped into his welcoming arms, just needing the understanding and the warmth of another body was more than enough for her at that moment.

Pressing his lips into her flowerscented hair, he spoke encouragingly.

“Talk to him sweetie. He is a man like no other. I trust him with my life.”

Her head bobbed up and down.

“I promise, I’m just not too good with trusting right now.”

He snickered.” You trust me. Don’t you think that’s dangerous?”

“I’ve been around vampires all my life, not to offend you, but I know what to expect. Its humans I don’t understand.”

His heart broke for the sweet, young girl in his arms. So many emotional scars, so much to learn from life!

A yawn brushed the hair on his chest.

“I think you need to get some shut eye. You’ll need all your wits if you want to talk to Rich tomorrow.”

“I’m not tiiii….rreeeedd.” she yawned again. Their heart to heart talk had chased the tension from her body, making way for tiredness to creep in.

“You’re a bad liar sweetheart.” Jon scoffed.

“I just don’t want to be alone tonight. I don’t think he is coming back. Will you stay with me, just until I go to sleep?”

His body sated from his feeding and earlier romp in the rain, he felt confident enough that she would be safe from his urges.

Grabbing a blanket from the bedroom he returned, doe eyes asked without words flowing from her mouth.

Settling back into the couch, he tapped on his chest. She smiled shyly, settling her head comfortably on his chest, she yawned again, her body melting against his.

“Ok, just until you fall asleep.”

“Thank you.” Her voice seemed muffled, sleep was claiming her very quickly. By the time he covered her with the blanket, she was gone.

Still feeling the buzz from his earlier hunt, he jumped from channel to channel, finally finding a documentary that captured his attention.

Two hours later and a teeny human being breathing steadily in his arms, Jon felt the pull of sleep on his eyelids

~~

Waking up, startled with his surroundings for a moment, Richie shot up. Realization dawned a few moments later and flicking a quick look at his wrist watch, he stood up. Worried about Ksenia spending the night alone, he dragged his tee on, making his way towards the door.

The hotelroom door opened at the first flick of the wrist and he frowned, cursing for leaving the door unlocked. He should have known better.

Something could have happened to her you bastard!

As his eye caught the couch, he felt his knees go week, his heart dropped to his stomach, hitting the floor. So much for worrying about her!

His eyes drifted from their entwined legs to her hand tangled so trustingly in Jon’s chest hair. Rage built with each ticking second. Sliding his eyes towards her head cushioned on Jon’s chest, Richie gasped as glowing blue eyes met his stare. Cold, predator eyes…

Richie’s rage whirled fast and thick in the air, not wanting to disturb the girl so peaceful at sleep on his chest, he kept his eyes trained on the stormy dark ones of his friend.

Don’t wake her up. She had a rough night.

Why? Did you fuck her to death?

Now Richie…calm down. Its not like that.

Richie wasn’t thinking straight, hurt and jealousy poured foul words from his mouth and Jon swallowed, reminding himself how this situation must seem to Richie.

I walk out and you couldn’t wait to get your claws…or dick, or is it both into her could you?

Richie….now just wait. She was upset, I only tried to comfort her.

“That’s some kind of comfort, in my dictionary I call it fuck but that’s me.”

Richie was so ready to pull Jon from her, pounding the living shit out of him but Ksenia’s peaceful face and dried tear streaks held him back for some reason.

Richie’s voice was low but loud enough to flicker Ksenia’s eyelids, bringing her out of  her deep sleep.

“Richie!” her emotions were unmasked at that moment  and Richie felt taken aback at the naked display of…of what he wasn’t sure.

Becoming aware of her surroundings she flicked a quick glance at Jon and then at Richie, a rosy color riding high on her cheeks.

“Richie…I.”

“I explained to Richie what I’m doing here, what I didn’t tell him was that you two needed to have that little chat we talked about last night. Maybe now is the right time.”

She moved away from Jon, the blanket slipped from her, leaving her gauzy nightie to display its contents to anyone caring to look.  Richie’s fists bulged. A small cry escaped Ksenia’s lips as she followed the icy stare and grabbed at the blanket pulling it up towards her chin.
