Chapter 82

“Asshole....I could just.....aargrrghhhhhhhhhhh!”

“Whhooaaaa ! Hold on girl! What’s up?”

“Your lead singer is an asshole!” She gritted her teeth as she watched Dave coming closer.

His bemused face drew a giggle from her.

“Did you just marched in there and told him he is an asshole?”

A red blush flashed across her face.

“No...”

Dave sighed a sigh of relief.

“I told him he was an arrogant bastard and that he was rude....” her eyes were as huge. “I just told my boss he is a bastard... oh shit I’m so fired!” Hysteria bubbled from her throat. Her emotions seemed so out of place these days!

“I doubt that, but honey you don’t know Jon. He has quite a temper and well ...you don’t want to piss him off.”

Jutting her chin forward, she met his worried stare.

“Well I don’t care. He acted like a brute and I felt I had to put him in his place besides, Kerry made a mistake, it happens.”

“Kerry...hhmmm that explains it. Let me guess she screwed up the clothes again didn’t she?”

“You mean she does this often? Oh no, I’m an idiot! A gullible idiot!”

“She is a scatterbrained girl, always late, always in a rush...so yeah.”

“Shit. Well I have to get him a new shirt to wear for tonight. I guess I better get going and be ready within an hour with the shirt ...and...and an apology it seems.”

Concern tucked at her eyebrows.

“Please excuse me.”

He waved her towards her destination.

“Good luck sweetheart. “

After endless asking for directions, she busted into the room filled with rails of clothes.

Her fingers brushed across various materials but came to a standstill as it touched dark, black leather.

Her face disappeared into the leather.

HHHmmmmm, I love the scent of it.

A tug at her subconscious yanked her backwards.

The scent was familiar to her, spicy...manly...

Shaking the strange feeling, she focused on the job at hand.

Paging through the shirts, she plucked one from the hanger.

Not too bad but...

She turned towards the rail with the pants.

This will go much better with the shirt and maybe...

Her eyes caught the perfect match. She grinned.

Let’s see if his majesty will take to a total wardrobe change.

Ciara knocked on the door a few minutes later, the butterflies in her stomach flapping wildly.

“Come in.”

He was sitting in a chair, his face upturned and obscured by the body moving around him, hands fluttering as she applied the necessary make up for the show.

“Your clothes...”

His forefinger flicked upwards, stilling her.

Waiting, watching, feeling awkward and out of place, she listened as he warmed up his vocal cords, the woman had now turned to his hair, sorting every strand to lay perfectly in its place.

“Thanks, Gina.”

The woman smiled, they seemed to have a good relationship. She seemed so at ease, gauging by the rate the words flew out of her mouth as her hands worked their magic.

“Hi, I’m Gina. You must be Ciara? Welcome to the Bon Jovi machine.” She winked playfully.

“Yes I am, thank you. I’m glad to be here.”

He didn’t join in the conversation, instead, he stood up and walked towards the other side of the room and took with him Ciara’s concentration as she watched the lithe movement of his body.

“Well I’m outta here. Break a leg Jonny. See ya around Ciara!”

Silence fell over the room.

“Please bring me my shirt.”

Grabbing the outfit from the chair, she strode closer.

“I took the liberty of changing your whole outfit. I just thought it might look better this way.”

He stiffened for a moment, Ciara’s heart drop.

“You don’t like to follow rules, do you?”

She wasn’t sure but she thought she heard him smile.

“No, not really.”

To her horror she heard the slight sound as he lowered his zipper. Turning towards her, she saw the slight flash of skin as his pants lowered and as much as she wanted to see his face she couldn’t for the life of her stand still and gape at a naked stranger, even though she knew it might be the most enjoyable eye candy she might see in her life up until this very minute of her existence.

His teasing laugh jingled down her spine and she felt a flash of irritation at his obvious pleasure in her discomfort.

“The rest of my clothes please.”

Jon stared at the gold leather pants and matching jacket. He liked the shirt with it too.

“Pants.”

Her hands fluttered nervously as she pulled at the pants, tucking too quickly she gasped as the jacket slipped towards the floor.

Snapping down to save it from touching the floor, she whimpered as her lower back spasm painfully.

Her discomfort hurdled through his body and he sped towards her, his hand steadying her as he helped her up.

“Are you ok”

“I’m just a little sore. I’m not used to hard labour but I’ll be ok in a few days, I just need to adjust.”

No you won’t.

“Excuse me?”

“I didn’t say a word.”

She lifted her face but caught a flash of naked ass and almost snapped her head off.

“Could you please just....” she held out the pants towards him.

“Scared of men?”

Indignation turned her voice to ice. “ No, I’m just not into gawking at naked strangers, especially if I don’t have a choice in the matter.”

He clucked at her from somewhere behind her. A warm hand touched her lower back.

How in the name of God did he manage to reach her so quickly? Heck the man was quick on his feet. Peeping sideways she huffed, and his pants is on? Wow!

“Does it hurt here?” his hand traced warm, fuzzy circles and she nodded quickly, the heat was comforting and she swore she could feel the muscles relax under his gentle ministrations.

“Uuuhuuhh.....hhhmmmmm”, confusion robbed her of any words and she stood frozen, too scared to move.

Her essence pulled at him and he swayed towards the sweetness buzzing in her veins, his nose tickled when her curly ponytail brushed his face...she was intoxicating.

A magical thread spun its web around the still forms, heightening the awareness, setting their hearts to a new rhythmic gallop.

Ciara felt a pull towards the man behind her, her body obeyed although her mind wanted to object, battling with common sense and sexual attraction.

“Kidd...it’s almost time....oh....ooh shiiii...I’m sorry.”

The moment shattered into nothingness and Ciara was spat out from the vibrant, pulsing web. She gasped as she turned around, feeling as if she had taken her first breath in minutes. Her lungs expanded and with it realisation dawned. Her face warmed as she stumbled from the warm touch.

“I was just about to leave. Have a good show. Jon, Richie.”

Shaking her hair and squaring her shoulders she mustered as much dignity as possible, and walked out, fixing her eyes on the door, her escape.

“From now on I want you on my wardrobe.” His voice sliced through her. Did the owner of that icy voice just touched her?

“But...”

“No discussion. If you don’t want it, Bon Jovi will have no other way but to end your employment, obviously you aren’t built for heavy labour, so its either putting up with me or you can go home.”

Heart pounding she whipped around, her face burning from embarrassment and fury.

He was busying himself with his jacket, totally ignoring her.

Scared that she might say something she might regret, she stomped out, slamming the door.

“Feisty one, I like it.” Jon flashed a fully fanged smile towards Richie. His smile wasn’t mirrored.

“What the fuck were you thinking? What if she saw you like this. Jesus Jon! You are losing it, you are getting reckless! What were you doing so close to her anyway? Were you getting ready to bite? She seemed totally out of it.”

“Her back hurt, I just eased her discomfort.” His voice was irritated. Jon never liked explaining himself.

“...and about to ease your own, huh? Pull yourself together, the show is about to start and you look far from human.” Richie’s legs took him towards the door. “I think this thing of having her working so closely is just going to open a can of worms better left unopened. You are playing with fire Jon.”

“I like fire, I need some of that fire she is suppressing...I need...” Jon wasn’t talking to him anymore.

“You need to get your ass outta here. Let’s go.”

“I’m ready, stop whining asshole. Just do me a favour? Get someone to keep her busy, I don’t want her to see the show tonight.”

Richie frowned.

“What the hell you up to, my brother?”

“Just a little game and don’t worry, no one will get hurt.”

“Yeah right and of course you can promise me that huh?”

Chapter 81

Ciara had a restless night filled with the nightmarish vampires and the blue eyed stranger in the hallway. Just for good measure, her screwed mind had to throw in the tall, dark eyed guitarist of the band too.

When she woke up early dawn, she felt drained and deathly tired. Her mind was jumbled and in serious need of nothingness. Dragging her tired butt out of bed, she made her way towards the shower, hoping to rinse the unexplained nightmare from her mind.

Dragging a pair of jeans over her legs, a tee and settling for some comfie sneakers, she did a quick tie up of her unruly curls and headed for the door. She had had enough of the room for a while, time to get started with the day.

Excitement rushed through her at the thought of experiencing something new.

Trotting down the hallway, she was quite surprised by the hustle and bustle of friendly faces moving about so early in the morning.

“Hey! Ho! Eeeaasssy!”

Ciara’s breath was knocked from her. A pair of long fingered hands gripped her arms.

“Oh geesh. I’m sorry Richie. I’m like a little girl at a carnival. So much to see!” She licked her lips nervously, fully aware of the humungous palms burning her skin.

His laugh was gentle and his puppy eyes warmed the coldness of the morning. Her dream rushed backed like ominous clouds in her mind and she stepped back.

“You wanna cup of java? I could do with one, shit I hate waking up so damn early.”

She shook her head.

“It’s really not necessary to baby me you know. I’m a big girl I can get my own coffee and besides, I doubt that you treat every roadie to a cup of coffee.”

The friendly eyes twinkled .

“Don’t fight it sweetheart, its only coffee. Just tap into you wild side and say yes.”

She blushed, furious at herself for being so rude.

“Yes, thanks.”

Dipping his head towards the other direction put her feet into motion.

“So are you ready for your first show tonight? The Bon Jovi train can get quite crazy sometimes but whatever happens, you will never regret it. Just too much fuc....fun.”

“To be honest, I’m excited yet nervous. I’ve never done something like this. I’m used to a 5 to 9 job.”

Brushing her cheek with his knuckles , he winked.

“You’ll do just fine. You look like one tough cookie.” To be honest, she looked kinda frail this morning but who was he to burst a girl’s bubble?

“Heck , I hope so.” She managed a smile.

The diningroom was busy so early in the morning, resting his hand in the small of her back, he guided her towards a table filled with hungry looking men, gauging by the groaning plates.

“Hey! Ciara! Come sit down.”

“Thanks, morning David, Teek.”

Richie slipped into a chair opposite her.

One chair remained empty. Hhhmmm..Mr. Oh-so-holy-rockstar.

“He’ll be here in a few, seems Jon is running late this morning.” He gestured towards the empty seat.

After the rest of the introductions have been made, Ciara took a sip of her first taste of coffee, eyeing the men’s healthy appetites.

Sneaking a look around the diningroom, she was hoping to catch the blonde heartthrob of the night before, but no such luck.

“You looking for someone?” David offered with a goofy smile on his face. “ I knew you would make friends quickly.”

Blushing guiltily, she nodded.

“Actually, yes I do. I met some guy last night....hey now! Its not what you think!” She silenced the wolf whistles.

“So tell us sweetheart, what’s his name?” Teek enquired, his eyebrow arched playfully. Jonny boy had some competition!

Smiling from the rim of her cup, she shrugged.

“Actually I don’t know. He didn’t give me his name but I’m sure I’ll see him soon enough. He said he’d been working for Bon Jovi for quite a while. “

Clicking his tongue, Richie winked. “Pretty and secretive huh?”

“No, really I don’t know what his name is. He has blue eyes, a very modern haircut, blonde, nice smile....maybe you know him?”

Silence fell across the table. Tico’s hand was stuck midway towards his mouth. David forgot to swallow his coffee and Richie just....stared.

“Are you sure you haven’t seen this guy before?” Obie offered.

“No..no why?” Delicate eyebrow arched together.

Sharing a look she didn’t quite understand, they shrugged, continuing with their meals. They were obviously avoiding her question.

A hearty breakfast and some good company later the rockstar still hadn’t shown up.

A bit disappointed and upset that she was working for such a self righteous man, she excused herself. It was time to get her hands dirty and own some money.

~~

Ciara groaned as she straightened her back. Blowing an unruly curl from her sweaty face, she felt a twinge of embarrassment as she watched her fellow roadies rushing on, doing their daily tasks without so much as a sigh.

Hell! I am a whoosie!

Rubbing the small of her back, she made her way towards the direction of the bathroom, only to be bulldozed by a wild eyed girl.

“Ooooh shit!” she cried out in despair as she watched the clothes scatter in all directions.

“I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you, wait let me help!” Ciara felt a tweak in her back muscles but bend lower nonetheless.

“Its all my fault. Shit! Jon is going to have my ass for this!” The girl was actually close to tears!

One look at the crumpled shirt in her hands and the tears let loose.

Ciara picked up the last of the clothes and patted the terrified girl’s back.

“It’s not that serious hun. Its just a shirt, it can be washed and ironed again. No biggie.” Geesh this Jon guy seems to be a royal asshole!

“You don’t understand. He’s supposed to wear this tonight. I was about to take it to his dressing room. I’m late as it is, what am I going to tell him now?!”

Biting her bottom lip, a thought crossed her mind.

“Hun, I’ll make you a deal. Give me the shirt. I’ll make sure her gets it.”

Relief was quickly drowned by uncertainty and the girl shook her head.

“I can’t let you do this. You can’t take the wrap for this. If I just got my ass to work earlier, none of this would have happened.”

“Listen...uh....”

“Kerry.”

“Kerry. I’m not scared of Jon. I’ll take the damn shirt. You cant tell me this is his only shirt? It sounds like he is acting like a spoiled little boy. I wont have him shout at you, not on my beat. So you go wash your face and take these with you and sort this out. I know the other band members and I’m sure they wont treat you bad. They’ll understand that accidents happen. Go now, run along...”

Kerry’s thank yous escorted her all the way around the corner.

Pushing her hair out of her face, squaring her shoulders, she made her way towards the dreaded dressing room.

It was about time I meet him, arrogant ass!

Jon’s body stiffened as hot and cold flushes zinged through him. She was close, and she was pissed! His lips pulled into a half smile. She gave off quite a buzz when she was mad! He wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of those flashing eyes and sharp tongue.

He laughed softly but froze as a knock echoed through the room.

Her scent drifted though the door in a misty cloud. Oh fuck!

“Mr. Bon Jovi? I’m here about your shirt.”

Grabbing the towel he had thrown onto the table moments ago, he slammed his face into it.

A muffled “Come in.”, came through the door and Ciara opened the door before her courage fled.

Closing the door behind her, she swung around only to gape like a gawky teenager.

Muscles ripped down his back, sloping into the tightest ass she had ever seen on a man.

WOW! Now this is one rock hard meat palace!

A snort or something sounded like it grated from the towel.

“Just put the shirt over the chair thanks.”

Staring at the crumpled material in her hands, she cleared her throat.

“Well, there is a little problem. Well ...uu...you see. Kerry had a little accident and...”

Still standing with his back to her, he snarled.

“Oh let me guess. She fucked it up again!”

“Now listen here! It was really an accident, she ran into me, so its partly my fault. Don’t you have anything else to wear? The poor girl is nervous as it is, I’m glad I brought this to you and not Kerry. Her nerves are shot, she told me that you would act this way!”

“How sweet of you. While you are busy playing the fairy godmother, why don’t you pull a shirt out of your hat or something.” His voice was dripping sarcasm.

Ciara suddenly lost it, who the hell did he think he was?!

“You are such an arrogant bastard! People make mistakes , that’s human. Oh sorry I forgot you aren’t one, so you expect everyone else to be perfect!”

His back muscles coiled at her words but she was beyond stopping.

“And a godmother has a wand not a hat! And lastly if it wasn’t for helping Kerry out, I would have told you to go to hell and find your own shirt, but I won’t . I’ll get you one even if it damn well kills me. When do you need the shirt your majesty?”

Jon has never in his life been so tempted to turn around and see her swallow her words the moment she saw his face...not now..he loved the turn of events...his little game.

“I want it now but seen as you are new and you don’t know where everything is, I’ll give you an hour and it better be fucking ready.”

Digging her nails into her palms, she stomped her foot.

“Can you please turn around and look at me at least?”

“I don’t have time for your tantrums, get me that shirt. I need to get ready.”

Fury bubbled like molten lava from her insides. She turned on her heel and slammed the door.

Chapter 80

Her thoughts speared through him.

What a way to make an impression Jon. Way to go asshole!

Waiting until the footsteps fainted, he returned to his room, sagging into the couch.

How in the fuck could he ever think that meeting her would be easy? Every time he smelled her essence or heard that tinkle as she laughed he wanted to savour her sweet nectar, feel her move beneath him. Devour her.

He roared as he swooped to his feet. He cannot think like that for God’s sake! She wasn’t here to serve as his meal, she was here to....to...to what?.

“Jon?”

David was taken aback by his slight jump as he called out to him. Jon was as vigilant as a jungle cat and to catch him unawares was surprising to say the least. Did he just make the mistake of his life to bring the girl here?

“What?”

“Why didn’t you meet her?”

“I wasn’t ready.” His eyes sparkled challengingly.

“She thought you were rude. I could see it in her face and for some absurd reason she was shit scared of Richie.”

“I know. I heard her.” He didn’t mention the part where she was thinking about a recurring dream or vision or what the hell you call it... of Richie nonetheless!

Jon was in no mood for any company, so he shrugged his shoulders, he had done all he could.

Hope to God he won’t regret it one day!

“G’night then.”

“David? Thanks for bringing her.”

“Sure.”

I hope I didn’t make the mistake of my life...

“Let’s hope not.”

David didn’t say a word as he walked out, the fact that Jon was just as unsure was worse than the knowledge that he can read his thoughts at any given time.

~~~
Ciara was thankful for the silence and her own company. She didn’t know that she would have to face the firing squad by being introduced to the band members.
Well the night was a bit of a disappointment after the lead singer refused to meet her. She knew he was in the room, she was sure she heard him move around.
Oh well, there will always be another day. Its not like the tour was ending soon. All she knew was that she wouldn’t like him even before she even laid eyes on him. She had no time for arrogance in her life and definitely not spoiled rockstars either.
An eerie feeling brushed down her spine as she rummaged through her suitcase. It was...like someone was watching her?
Turning around slowly, she was lured towards the blowing curtains. That smell....she knew that smell..or scent? Lifting her face, she marvelled at the breeze playing with her wild curls, sucking in the rain filled breeze as it played over her skin.
Her eyes drifted close and she let herself go, freeing herself from the tautness pulling at her shoulder blades, letting the worries flutter away in the night breeze. It was time to embrace the new chapter of her life with open arms and stop feeling sorry for herself.
Breezy fingers brushed her cheek, drifting down her neck gently as it caressed the sensitive skin there. Her hair wafted in gentle waves as if an invisible hand was playing with it...
Welcome Ciara.
A shudder charged through her back and she gasped, her eyes shot open in alarm.
Someone or something was with her, touching her....welcoming her?!
A movement at the window caught her eye and she shrieked. Glowing cobalt coals stared at her from the dark night.
Moving as fast as her paralyzed muscles could carry her, Ciara rushed from the room right into a warm, muscled wall.
“Oh! I’m...”
“Ciara ...”
Blinking once...twice, her eyes regained focus.
Warmth oozed from the stranger, seeping into her icy bones. Strong fingers held her by the shoulders. She could smell the rain on his skin, see the drops scattered on his hair.
Then she looked into the stormiest of blue eyes she had ever seen.
“I’m so sorry!” She mumbled, not wanting to leave the comfortable warmth.
“No problem. You are Ciara, right?”
“I am...yes...and you are?”
His smile was blinding and she couldn’t help but try and mirror the perfection as precise as she could. Feeling her bottom lip tremble, she decided against it. Her nerves wouldn’t let her, maybe some other time.
Staring back at the handsome face, she froze as she saw a pair of blue depths staring intently at her quivering lips.
“Anything wrong? You look a bit upset.”
Snorting to hide her embarrassment, she laughed.
“Oh, I’m just being silly. Don’t mind me. I think the strange surroundings and my crazy mind proved to be too much tonight. So tell me, are you working for the band as well?”
“You could say so.”
Her heart made a silly flip-flop as the man smiled again. Quite a handsome man, or like Holly would put it...DAYUM HOT! Baby blue eyes set in a beautiful, maybe too beautiful face, strong jawline, perfect white pearlies, and the hair...who does his hair? Its gorgeous!
He chuckled lightly, bringing her thoughts back to the present.
Ok! I’m staring!
“How long have you been working here?”
“Oohh...since the beginning.”
Her eyes widened.
“Geesh and how do you find the lead singer of the band? I was suppose to meet him but he deemed himself too important. To be honest, I have no patience for people like that. Who does he think he is?”
“Jon Bon Jovi?”
She snorted.
“Oh whatever, he can’t be THAT special.”
A strange look flashed in his eyes and she smiled apologetically.
“I’m sorry. I’m new , haven’t even met the man and I have an opinion. I’m not usually like this, I apologise. Please don’t take me to mind, it’s been ....”
“...a long day. I understand but could I give you some advice? Give the guy some time, he’s not too bad. Once you get to know him, you’ll like him.”
She felt her cheeks warmed.
“I will do and sorry again. My mouth is like a runaway train tonight. I guess its nerves.”
“Nothing to be nervous about, you are in safe hands.” His drop dead gorgeous smile convinced her of that, or was it the darker shade of cobalt in his eyes?
Wow! He had some expressive eyes!
He blinked suddenly and she took a step back. Something eerie loomed in the air and Ciara couldn’t help the sudden shiver tapping down her spine. It was suddenly cold in the hallway!
“Well it was nice to meet you...uuhh...” He didn’t give his name, did he?
“The pleasure is all mine, Ciara.”
Her name slipped off his tongue like fine wine.
“Well goodnight then.”
“G’night.”
The spicy scent she smelled earlier floated towards her and she turned. She was alone.
Chapter 79
“Now you be a good boy, you hear? Ooh mama loves you!” she pushed her face one last time into the thick ginger coat, feeling her cheek vibrate as the deep purr vibrated through his skin.
“The food is...”
“...in that cupboard over there, he gets a bowl of milk everyday, I know, I know. He will be alright, get your ass outta here. Blondie has been waiting at the car for almost half an hour. You go! We will be alright ! “ Just to contradict Holly’s statement, the cat growled as Holly picked it up.
“Go! He will get used to me. Don’t worry about him ok? GO!”
“Am I making the mistake of my life Holly?” insecurity turned her eyes to glassy marbles.
“You’ll be ok. Go! I want a daily update and as many pics as that little camera of yours will allow, you hear me?” A quick hug and a squished ginger cat later, Ciara turned and walked out the door without looking back. Tears stung her eyes and fear gnawed at her gut.
“Hello David.”
“How ya doin Ciara? You ready?”
Tears brimmed her beautiful eyes and he felt a twinge of guilt. Leading the princess right into the hands of the monster...Jon wasn’t a monster! He was ...just...different. He pushed his thoughts to the background.
“Everything will be ok. You’ll see. We might look like a bunch of farts but we are actually fun to be with. Lucky for you, you’ve already met the heartthrob in the band, so you’ll be ok, more than ok. I’ll make sure of it.” He winked playfully, waving dramatically towards the open car door while he bowed deeply.
Swallowing at the lump she smiled tearfully, blinking to keep the tears at bay.
“I’m going to hold you to that.” She managed with a voice she didn’t think she had.
Sliding into the car, she managed one last goodbye before her tears blinded her completely.
What the hell was she thinking?! Was it too late to back out?
Pride prevented her from banging on the windows to be let out while fear of the unknown chiselled at her insides.
~~
Jon was pacing like a caged lion.
“Brother, you are going to wear the carpet out man. Get your ass into a seat. What’s eating you by the way?”
“She is coming.”
“She?” Richie frowned, as realisation dawned, he felt his stomach drop.
“Not the girl from the bar?! Fuck Jon what are you doing man? Do you want to get caught?”
“I’m not going to get caught, she is going to tour with us. Nothing to it.”
“Nothing to it?! Oh fuck please! You already have an acquired taste for her, what ya gonna do? Keep her as your personal bloodbank?! For fuck’s sake Jon! THINK!”
“Keep your fucking voice down.” A hint of fangs peeped from under tightly drawn lips. “She could be right at the door this very second! You wanna fuck it up for me?” She was here, in the building, not close enough to hear them though, he would have known instantly but Richie didn’t know that.
“I agree with Richie. This fucking stinks. This is going to go down bad....for her...for all of us. You can’t control yourself around her, how is bringing her here gonna change everything?” Tico’s deep voice vibrated through the room.
“Shut it.” Jon sneered, his eyes blazing. “...and its the last time I’m gonna ask nicely.” Protruding fangs flashed in warning.
“I will shut up as soon as I’ve said this. I will not let you use her as your personal bloodbank Jon. This is too close to home and this is an innocent girl, not you plaything. So be warned.” Richie gritted before he stalked out of the room just to crash into the centre of all the stirring in the Bon Jovi camp.
“Oh excuse ....” it was the widest most expressive emerald eyes he had ever seen in his years. He didn’t get to stare very long into the green jewels. She whipped shocked eyes towards David, her face ashen, a breathy gasp rushing past lips.
“This is the guitarist of the band, Richie. Richie this is Ciara. She is coming with us on tour. Just a word of caution, this is mister Casanova right there, you be careful of him.” His warm smile died away as he met her gaze.
“Ciara what’s wrong honey?”
She blinked once...twice...this was the man in her visions! But how was that possible, he missed some things though, a guitar and a black Stetson.
“I’m sorry, I thought I’ve seen him somewhere. I must be mistaken.” Her wobbly smile turned towards Richie again.
David smiled, whispering close to her ear.
“Well we are a rockband sweetie, maybe you’ve seen us on tv?”
Trying to shake the niggly feeling she faked a smile. He was in her visions, the unwelcome visions haunting her so often.
“Maybe that’s it. I’m sorry for being so rude. Hello Richie, please to meet you.”
Richie wasn’t fooled, the wary look in her eyes screamed at him.
Taking her peachy skin in his huge hand, she smiled.
“Ciara is it? Great to meet you hun. I hope you are ready for some bone breaking hard work and lots of fun.”
She returned the smile, his hand was huge and warm, his smile seems to be genuine. Her gut instinct told her to trust this chocolaty eyed man, but why has she seen him in visions before? Wasn’t it a warning of some kind?
Wariness radiated from her eyes as she withdrew her hand, leaving Richie positively puzzled.
A movement from the door caught her attention and she turned her head. A dark haired man with friendly dark eyes and a bright smile approached them.
“This is Teek...or otherwise known as Tico. This is our hitman.”
Ciara paled to the men’s greatest amusement.
“Isn’t that illegal to even mention it?” her expressive eyes looked warily at the man.
“Honey don’t you listen to these assholes. I’m the drummer, and you are welcome to call me Teek.” His hand was gentle, a far cry from a deadly assassin’s grip.
Hit...drums....ahhh.
Her laugh tinkled in the air.
“I-I-I-I get it...drummer, hitman. You scared me there for a moment! I’m not used to music lingo yet but I’ll catch up!”
All men froze as the unmistakable growl drifted from the room. The girl didn’t seem to have noticed. They relaxed.
“For you I can be a hitman. You just say the word. Any trouble from any of them and you just call me.” Tico winked
The warning didn’t go unnoticed and the men swept a worried look at each other. The prowling, growling man in the room was on everybody’s mind. Why didn’t he come out and meet her?
David stepped towards the room.
“You hang on for a sec, we are almost done with the introductions, I just want to get the leading man to come and say hi.”
You could have heard a pin drop...
Whipping his head around the door, he was met with an empty room.
“I guess we have to meet Jon later. I thought he was in here.”
Steering her away with his hand, holding her slightly by the elbow, she didn’t miss the exchange of worried looks between the band members.
Maybe the lead singer wasn’t too keen to have a new roadie?
She suppressed the snort making its way through her nose.
Oh great! That’s all I need! An arrogant lead singer with no manners! This could get interesting.
Chapter 78
David stared at his cold coffee, his thoughts ...and hopes were somewhere else. More particularly, a green eyed, mahogany curled lady. Would she be here today? God he hoped so!
Her acceptance of the job he offered depended on so much, more than she could ever dream of. It meant the livelihood of the band, more importantly Jon’s sanity...if it could ever be saved that is. All he hoped to God was that she wouldn’t have to pay the ultimate price for all this...sacrifices..sometimes they have to be made.
He heard the soft tinkle of a female’s voice even before he saw them. His heart thudded in his chest, how to approach her this time without her bringing up stalking charges. Damn the shit a brother will do for another!
By the slight raise of her voice he knew they were having a tiff. The blonde one was like a lil yapping dog, nagging at her relentlessly.
“Shit Holly can we please just have some coffee please, geesshh!”
“I’m just saying girl. You need to get out, you act like a real damn spinster since Halloween. Are you pining for the sexy vampire?”
David almost choked on his coffee.
“Will you please for Pete sake just let it be! Its been weeks! I don’t pine for any damn male, especially not THAT man!”
Holly sighed, shrugging her shoulders.
“Well, ok then but I was just saying...you need to...”
Ciara’s eyes caught the blonde curls trying to be inconspicuous and doing a very shitty
job at that.
“You know what? I think I‘ll do it.”
Without so much as a glance at Holly, she stood up, making her way towards the now squirming man in the seat.
“Hi. Do you still remember me? I guess you do huh...ok...so is the job still available?” Her heart was pounding and the words just rolled of her tongue before she could even breathe her next breath.
Her flashing eyes kept him captive.
“Hello...yes, I think...yes it is.” His smile could blind a blind man at that moment.
Licking her lips nervously, she met his gaze.
“I’ll take it. When do I start?” Cat eyes flashed, determination smouldering in them like hot coals.
“What about Immediately? We are heading out of town soon. Tell you what, give me your address and I’ll arrange for you to be picked up. Call me when you are ready and I’ll send someone around to pick you up.”
Shaking her head slightly, she met his gaze.
“No...no I’m sorry. You will do the picking up. I don’t know anyone else so its you or the deal is off.”
She didn’t dare look back at Holly but she could feel the stunned stare boring into her back.
Take that missy!
David flashed a row of pearly whites.
“Deal. You call me and I’m there.”
A nervousness licked at her insides.
“Lets make an arrangement right now. Tomorrow evening at six. Will that suit you?”
He nodded silently but she didn’t miss the satisfied glow in his eyes.
Was she making the mistake of her life? She barely knew this man.
Shaking the nagging feeling from her, she shook her long curls , straightening her back, meeting the curly stranger’s eyes.
“Tomorrow evening at six it is then.” His smile was easy and somehow she didn’t feel threatened by him at all.
“Tell me one thing, David. Do you make it a habit by recruiting young woman on a whim?”
His smile was blinding and somehow reassuring.
“As a matter of fact no but I just heard your conversation and I had a feeling about you. You need some excitement in your life and Bon Jovi can provide it. THAT I guarantee.” His smile was easy and reassuring, his baby blue eyes so clear and easy to trust.
After they’ve exchanged his number once again, Ciara made her way towards a wide eyed
Holly.
“Well I’ll be damned! You actually took the leap! So does that mean Garfield and I am going to get better acquainted?”
“Everyday. You hear me? You feed him everyday, if my cat so much as lose an ounce I’ll haul your ass over the coals.”
Ciara’s eyes were shining brightly, her heart bouncing in her chest. What the hell had she just done!
You agreed to travel the world with a rockband. The little voice accused.
Holly’s excited giggle yanked her back to reality, cocking her head sideways she found an empty seat where David had just been.
Deep down, she had this niggly feeling that her life was about to change irrevocably.
~~
David’s ass hit the couch, a smug look on his handsome face.
Jon flashed a quick glance his way before he buried his face in the lines of new lyrics scribbled on the paper before him.
“Whatcha so smug about?”
“She is coming Jonnyboy. “
The paper slid down from his face, falling from his nerveless fingers.
“You’re fucking kidding me right?”
Joy bounced from the friendly blue eyes.
“Does it look like I’m kidding?”
No...he wasn’t kidding.
“You did it. You actually fucking did it.” Jon’s eyes morphed into a darker shade of violet. A deep purr rumbled from his chest, affirming once again that the Jon before him was more than he appeared to be.
“Well please don’t fall over yourself to kiss my feet in gratitude!” Jon was happy again!
“Thank you asshole. I owe ya.” The smile was devastating and the fangs worrisome but David couldn’t help but feel proud.
Chapter 77
“Girl I can soooo slap you right now!” irritation flashed in Holly’s eyes but Ciara wasn’t fazed.
“Why don’t you do it then? I’m not as carefree as you Holly and after years of friendship I would have hoped that you know it by now. I cant just pack up and leave, besides we don’t even know the man, what if he is pulling a stunt on us?”
“You need to seriously loosen up girl. You are young, beautiful and single what holds you back?”
“My cat?”
An unwomanly snort grated from across the table.
“Arrghh please give me a break! You think I cant fill a bowl with some kibble?”
“I didn’t say that...look, can we just drop the subject. I’m NOT going on tour with a rockband and thats final.”
~~~

“I offered her a job.” Dave’s shiny blue depths matched his excitement.

“Who?” Jon’s disinterested face looked up from the hordes of photos he was signing.

“The girl man, what’s her name? Ciara.”

Cold air suddenly whisps through the room and Dave found himself staring into the coldest, cruellest eyes.

“What the fuck were you doing at her place? Who gave you fucking permission to interfere in my business?”

A flash of searing jealousy simmered in Jon’s core.

“Someone had to do something. You cant get this girl outta ya head, so I thought....”

“Dont think David!” Jon was roaring.

“Fuck you Jon. I did this for you man. You need to exorcise this thing you have for her so we can get on with our lives. Having her close and seeing that she is nothing special might just do the trick, but that’s me.” He spun on his heel and walked out, feeling the cold eyes boring into his back and frankly, not giving a damn.

Jon’s ass hit the chair. A surge of anticipation crawled into his veins. Why haven’t he thought of that? Luring her closer, having her with him day and night ... a pulse hardened his shaft instantly, gums ached as his fangs forced past the soft flesh, feeding off the vivid images of him entwined in the arms of a green eyed angel..

~~~
Ciara stared at the article stretched across her pc screen. New Jersey huh? She can recall a few songs of them over the years, not bad, not bad at all. It says here they disappeared from the public eye for a few years and now they are back with a vengeance...what’s with that?
A giggle slipped from her lips. Who am I kidding? What am I, little miss prude going to do with a rockband?
The hair on the back of her neck stood up in attention, shaking the cold fingers from her spine, she closed the picture. That was enough for one night!
She pushed from the table just to sag into a heap on the floor, her knees slamming onto the cold, unrelenting tiles.
Flashes of stage lights, guitars and screaming fans pierced through her mind.
What is this!?
Easing her breathing to a slow deep rhythm, she waited it out, these flashes don’t last long.....just breathe Ciara...breathe.
Pushing up on wobbly legs a few moments later, Ciara stumbled towards the kitchen. She was shaking all over, her body bathed in an icy shiver. Her throat was parched, her tongue sticking to the roof of her mouth.
With shaky fingers, she stirred her third teaspoon of sugar into the steamy mug. She was craving sugar, anything wet and sweet, not necessarily in that order.
~~~

Jon took a deep breath, fighting his way out of yet another attack of Ciara’s muddled emotions.

By the look of it, she was experiencing some serious emotional breakdowns these last couple of weeks.

He wanted to go to her, soothing the fears that woke her in the middle of the night whimpering like a lost child but Jon knew how it would end, him taking more than what was needed. He couldn’t risk it, he won’t allow it.

Sliding open his phone, he punched quick dial, waiting for Dave’s voice on the other side.

“Hey Joker. Tell me, any calls yet? Oh...ok..yeah...thanks.”

FUCK!

Was she going to pass this up?! He couldn’t allow it, he needed her with him, forever. What the hell was he saying?! This wasn’t a damn fairytale! This was as shitty and real as life can get! She was her own but...

Jon jumped up, pacing the room he knew what he wanted was just...primal. He couldn’t just take her as his own, she was nobody’s possession! Damn it but he wanted her to be his, his own!

Chapter 76

David and Tico were sipping at their coffees. Tico’s nose was buried deep into the morning paper before him and David’s eyes were trained on the two beautiful girls on the other side of the cafe.

“Stop staring David. Jon is going to have your ass for stalking her like this.” His dark drawl didn’t even draw a blink from the curly blonde male.

“I can see what Jon sees in her Teek. She is damn gorgeous but somehow I think the attraction goes much deeper than that and I’m NOT stalking her. I’m checking her out, there is a difference. I’m gonna get myself a muffin, you want one?”

“Nah, I’m good thanks.” The dark head disappeared back into the newspaper again.

Standing close to the counter, waiting his turn, David cocked his head towards the ladies, listening in to the private conversation.

“So tell me Sweetcakes. What ya gonna do with yourself now? You are not the lazing around kinda gal.” Holly asked.

Playing with the teaspoon between her fingers, Ciara shrugged.

“Dunno yet. Something I would never do, something outrageous, something fun. Something VERY tiring.”

“What about stripping? You have the bod for it and you might just get lucky too.” Her giggle was contagious and Ciara’s chuckle followed moments later.

“You are the devil in disguise.”

Taking a generous bite of her muffin she grinned.

“You better know it!”

“Excuse me?”

The women turned their heads towards the polite request.

“I’m sorry to intrude but I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation.”

The look on their faces made him took a step closer.

“I know its not polite and I apologise but I might just have the job you.”

Ciara looked at the clean shaven man with honeyed curls and clear blue eyes. Was he some weirdo? He didn’t look like it...

“I’m sure you meant well but I’m sorry, I don’t think I’ll be interested.” She turned her head in final dismissal.

“Give the man a chance girl!”, Holly smiled.

Ciara sighed. Holly was such a sucker where good looking guys were concerned. Tapping her fingers impatiently, she turned towards the looming shadow.

“Clever girl.” David winked at the blonde girl.

“I’m from a band and we are touring at the moment. I don’t usually do this but it seems like you need a break from real life. We always need an extra hand, so if you wanna do tired and exciting, this is the job for you.”

He can’t be serious! A roadie? Ridiculous!

“Thank you but no, I don’t think its something I would like to do.”

Ciara blinked, was it disappointment she saw in his eyes?

“Of course, sorry for the intrusion. Well if you change your mind....call me. Grabbing a napkin, he scribbled down his name and number.” Just as he turned to walk away, Holly called his name.

“Tell me David, which band are you playing for?”

“You might have heard of us, Bon Jovi? “ he smiled and walked away, leaving a gaping girl staring at his back.

“Did you hear it? Bon friggen Jovi! Girl how can you pass something like that up? Damn girl! Traveling with sexy men for a few months...I mean hell!”

She shrugged her shoulder nonchalant.

“Easy...I just did.”
